Public Computer Access

The Marshall District Library provides numerous computers for public use. Adults may choose to use filtered or unfiltered workstations which include Internet access along with the Microsoft Office Suite and library subscription Databases. Children under the age of 18 may use filtered workstations to access the Internet, play educational games, or to use the Microsoft Office software. Computers in the Biz Resource Center provide Internet access and a variety of business support software.

 

 

 

The Library Collections and Services

The Marshall District Library provides a wide variety of materials in various formats for library patrons of all ages. The collection includes:

Reference Materials – for use in the library

  • Books including encyclopedias, genealogy, local history, high school yearbooks, plat maps, Michigan telephone books
  • Microfilm of census records and Marshall newspapers since 1838
  • Current newspapers, local and out-of-town
  • Current magazines

Biz Resource Center – for use in the library and limited loan

  • Books and manuals to help start or grow a small business
  • Computers with small business development software
  • Provided in partnership with Marshall Main Street and the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center

Adult Collection - available for loan or use in library

  • Fiction including mysteries, westerns, science fiction
  • Non-fiction
  • Large Print
  • Audio books on cassette tape or CD
  • Recorded music on CD
  • Video recordings on VHS and DVD
  • Non-current issues of magazine
  • Library Booklists

Youth Collection – available for loan

  • Books for various reading and interest levels including picture books, beginning readers, fiction series, chapter books, non-fiction, and young adult fiction

  • Automotive Consumer Information – State of Michigan site for complaints about a sale, repairs, mechanics and tips on buying cars.
  • Carfax – Vehicle history reports.
  • Cars.com – Sell or buy a car, research, find a car's value, maintenance and repair information.
  • ChiltonLibrary.com - Subscription database that contains full Chilton's repair manuals, recalls and maintenance information. Please log in using your name and library card number from home.
  • Edmunds – New and used vehicle prices and reviews.
  • The Gold Book – The price authority for classic and collectable vehicles.
  • Kelly Blue Book – Used car trade-in and retail values, new car prices, reviews, articles.
  • NADA Pricing Guides – Vehicle pricing and information.
  • What Every Driver Must Know - Driving manual published by the Michigan Secretary of State.
